Women are often concerned about their appearance, especially their face and how people perceive them. Facial features that people tend to notice and associate with beauty include the eyebrows, lips, nose, and cheekbones. In fact, today, having high and well-defined cheekbones is something that many women wish for since it is associated with many famous and gorgeous women.
There are ways to accentuate many of your features by using makeup that is carefully applied to emphasize the cheekbones. The careful application of bronzers, shading, and highlighted areas can really work to your advantage to accentuate your natural beauty, including your cheekbones. However, you may want a more permanent solution than this.
Gum chewing and diet
Gum chewing is also beneficial since this exercises the muscles of the face and further helps to define your facial features including your cheekbones. Of course, not everybody wants to chew gum so this is not a viable option for many women and it may not give the desired result.
It is also important to realize that over time a woman may gain weight which makes the face appear fuller and cheekbones become less well-defined. In these cases, it is also useful to lose weight so that your facial features become more prominent. However, as women age, they also experience sagging of the skin which can also change the appearance of the face so that the distinct cheekbones they once had, are no longer evident.
Are dermal fillers a good option?
For a solution that lasts about a year, a woman can look into getting dermal fillers. This usually entails getting an injection of a special gel that consists of the substance hyaluronic acid. This is a natural material that is injected into the face to create definition by adding volume to certain parts of the face.
The problem with hyaluronic acid dermal fillers that this is only a temporary solution though it does help to lift parts of the face that may be sagging. As people age, regions of the face become wrinkled and skin does tend to sag over time.
Some clinics do offer fat injections into the cheeks instead of hyaluronic fluid. The results of this may vary quite considerably because fat cells grow at different rates, and in fact, a second treatment may even be necessary to get the desired outcome and look that you want.
This is also not a permanent solution and would have to be repeated at some stage in the future. This procedure is known as lipostructure or fat transplantation, and results are visible after about two months. Similar to the hyaluronic acid injections, fat injections are not a permanent solution and eventually, you are likely to need more treatments in the future, in about one or two years’ time.
These injections are at least natural which lessens any potential harm that could be done. Some clinics may choose artificial substances to inject into the face, but this is probably not a good idea since these are not natural substances and are thus likely to provoke an immune response in the body.
Cosmetic surgery – a permanent solution
The only permanent way to get the cheekbones that you want is to have cosmetic surgery done. Of course, this may not be an option for everyone, especially for people who have chronic medical problems that make surgical procedures too dangerous.
In some cases, an implant can be placed into the face and this is often done by placing the structure in through the mouth so that no scar is seen on the outside of the face. The procedure can be easily performed with a local anesthetic but often patients are sedated during the procedure.
The advantage of cheek implants is that it can often lift the cheekbones to give the desired look that the person wants. Cheekbone implants are usually done on an outpatient basis and patients are therefore able to return home soon after the procedure has been done.
You do need to realize that your face is likely to have some swelling immediately afterward but this will go down over time and results will become evident in a few weeks. To find out more about ways to enhance your cheekbones you can visit the Vera Clinic site.
