Tired of Google? Other search engines you can try

Date:

It’s no secret that Google completely dominates the search engine market, leaving all other search engines in the dust. But it doesn’t mean other search engines aren’t worth your time. There are actually a lot of different search engines available for people to use!

If you are running your own website, it is important to have a look at Google Analytics, as it will tell you what percentage of your search traffic is coming from which search engine. Even though your search traffic is likely to be dominated by Google, you should take a look at some of the other search engines that users are on before coming to your website.

Based on SEO Shark, all search engines are slightly different and have different algorithms, so something that would get your website to the first page of Google, may not be on another search engine. So, have a read on below at some of the other search engines that you should be considered when performing SEO:

1. Bing

Bing is probably the biggest search engine other than Google. It actually has a lot of similarities to Google, but you should try searching for the same keyword in Google and Bing to compare the search engine results page.

One awesome unique thing that Bing offers is a rewards program. This allows a user to gain points while searching which can be redeemed at Windows and/ or Microsoft stores! It is certainly something worth digging a little deeper into.

2. CC Search

This search engine is great if you are looking for copyright-free content. So things like videos and images can be found here and used on your own website. You know all the things on this search engine are copyright-free, so you are free to use it!

This could be music to your ears if you have been pulling your hair out recently trying to find an image for your blog or a video for your website, without it costing you a small fortune. Be sure that CC Search is your first point of call if any of this type of work is needed.

3. DuckDuckGo

DuckDuckGo is known as the secure search engine as it doesn’t collect or keep any of your personal information. This search engine is certainly gaining a lot of traction for that reason.

While you may not get as personalized results as you would see in Google, if you are worried about your personal data being stored, then DuckDuckGo is certainly for you. Privacy is becoming a much bigger issue these days, which is why you may see more and more search traffic coming from this search engine.

4. Search Encrypt

As the name suggests, this is another secure search engine that is known to put privacy first. Search Encrypt uses local encryption, which makes anyone’s searches private. You know that your private searches are safe with this search engine.

Even if someone has access to your computer your searches are safe. This is because the terms that a user searches for will expire after a certain period of time. This search engine is all about security and keeping your data safe.

5. Yandex

Another relatively big player in the market still doesn’t compare to Google’s dominance though. A lot of search engines are based out of the United States and mostly used by those living there, but Yandex is a bit different, it is used by almost half of Russian internet users.

So if you are looking for a little bit of a different perspective, then it could be a good idea to search for the same two terms in Google and in Yandex to see what you can get. Just like Google, this search engine has high functionality and is quite easy to use.
