The Top Ways To Help Protect You From The Hot Australian Sun.

Date:

If there was one thing that you should have taken away from the pandemic it was the fact that many Australians were deficient in vitamin D because we weren’t getting enough sunshine every day. That’s pretty hard to believe considering the amount of fantastic weather that we get here all year round but many people leave for their offices first thing in the morning and they don’t leave until late in the evening. This means that they don’t get their fair share of vitamin D and so medical practitioners are now encouraging many Australians to get a lot more. There is an upside and downside to this, in that you’re getting this essential vitamin but you are exposing yourself to the harmful effects of UV rays from the sun.

The thing to remember is that all you need is 10 to 15 minutes of direct sunshine every single day and that will be sufficient for your body. Longer than that, is not good for you and so you need to pull out all of the stops to protect yourself from the sun even when driving in your vehicle. It is wise to invest in some car windscreen sun shades not only to protect you but to protect the inside of your vehicle as well. This is just one way to protect yourself and your property and the following are some more.

  • Keep yourself in the shade – If you are outside and an opportunity presents itself for you to be able to get out of the sun then you should take it every single time. If you’re walking around on the beach then it would be a good idea to carry an umbrella with you. If you’re standing around waiting for a friend then take shelter under a tree or any other type of shelter that is available to you. Be sure to wear long-sleeved shirts and apply some sunscreen as well.
  • Invest in a hat – This is a simple thing but is very effective in protecting your face, your ears, and the back of your neck. It is especially important for those of us who don’t have a lot of hair up top as it protects the skin from harmful UV rays. This will protect your head, your ears, and the back of your neck so choose wisely when picking out the hat that you want to wear.
  • Buy some sunglasses – We take our eyesight very much for granted and you need to reduce your chances of getting cataracts, so invest in a quality pair of sunglasses that offer you both UVA and UVB protection. This is not the time to be cutting corners and buying copy sunglasses that don’t provide you with any protection at all even though you will look good.

As was mentioned briefly before, be sure to invest in sunscreen and apply it to your exposed skin whenever you can, and be sure to do it regularly throughout the day.
