Slow Down the Signs of Ageing by Taking These 5 Steps

Date:

Ageing is a normal part of being human and isn’t something that you must fear. However, the fact that it’s a natural process doesn’t mean you can’t do anything about it! By taking the right steps, you can improve your overall skin texture while making wrinkles less visible and preventing new ones from forming. Start your journey to graceful ageing by using these tips:

Improve your diet

You might not realise it, but your diet actually does have an effect on how quickly you age. So, as early as possible, make positive changes to your diet and make sure it promotes skin health. Limit your consumption of overly processed foods as well as those that are high in salt, sugar, and saturated fats. Focus on foods that contain high amounts of omega fatty acids like salmon, mackerel, walnuts, and sunflower seeds since they reduce inflammation and protect your skin from damage. You should also eat foods that are high in Vitamin C, which is a key component of collagen production and protects your skin from oxidative damage.

Make sure you’re always hydrated

When you’re often dehydrated, your skin can look dry, dull, and flaky and make lines and wrinkles more noticeable. Because of this, you should prioritise hydration and follow the recommended daily water intake (which is around 2.1 litres a day for women and 2.6 litres a day for men). It’s also advisable to limit your drinking since alcohol can cause dehydration and lead to skin damage over time.

Learn how to relax

Ageing and inflammation go hand in hand so, to stay young-looking for longer, you’ll want to reduce the inflammation levels in your body. One way to do this is to properly manage stress. Remember: stress increases the levels of the hormone cortisol, which doesn’t only promote sebum production and facilitates acne but also accelerates the skin’s ageing process. By learning how to keep your stress levels at a minimum, you’ll enjoy better mental health while keeping wrinkles at bay and ensuring that your skin is always smooth and supple.

Limit your smoking (or quit if possible)

The toxins you gain from smoking can negatively affect your skin in different ways. For one thing, they can decrease the blood flow to your skin cells and prevent them from getting the oxygen and nutrients they need. These toxins can also break down elastin and collagen, making your skin less firm and supple and paving the way to wrinkles and sagging. To prevent premature ageing, try to keep smoking to a minimum and find ways to let go of the habit permanently.

Add anti-ageing products to your skin care routine

You should already be using a gentle cleanser, moisturiser, and SPF30 sunscreen on a daily basis. If you’re not, build a simple skin care routine that involves these three important products and, once you get it down pat, start experimenting with anti-ageing products and find out which ones provide the results you need. One of the best options is a top-quality bakuchiol serum, which plumps up the skin and makes fine lines and wrinkles less noticeable. It can also calm irritated skin and reduce redness and inflammation.

There’s no permanent way to stop ageing in its tracks. But, by using these tips, it’s possible to decelerate the process and keep your skin supple and younger-looking for many more years.
