The NFL preseason has started. So some of us are already organizing mock drafts and setting our go-to players in numerical order for each position.
Sure, we can go the regular route and watch ESPN and Yahoo Sports pundits talk about players and tell us who to pick. This is all well and good. There is a wealth of information that comes from talking-head sports analysts. But something that all serious fantasy players should look at, for both season-long leagues and DFS is Player Props odds at sites like Bovada and Bookmaker.
Today we are going to look at seasonal props. But props betting odds are extremely useful in DFS situations because they are based on the current matchup and recent performance, etc. Plus they set the odds in an OVER/UNDER format so you can see exactly what the boys and girls in Las Vegas think the baseline is for each player.
Without further ado, let’s look at some odds.
Most Receiving Touchdowns
Devante Adams is the odds-on favorite to snag the most scoring grabs in 2019 at +625. But he is followed closely by DeAndre Hopkins at +765 and Travis Kelce at +1000. Next in-line is Antonio Brown at +1150; oddsmakers don’t think that his alleged foot problems are a concern. OBJ, JuJu, Julio Jones, Michael Thomas, Mike Evans, and Tyreek Hill round out the top ten. T.Y Hilton, Keenan Allen, and Amari Cooper are good No. 1 sleeper, and EXCELLENT No. 2 guys for your roster.
Most Receiving Yards
You might have been why Julio Jones was so far back in the touchdowns department (+1600). Well, if you have been eyeballing Julio all summer, he is the far and away favorite at +620 to finish the regular season with the most receiving yards. DeAndre Hopkins comes in second at +700, and OBJ is third at +850. Rounding out the top-ten for season yards is JuJu at +1002, Mike Evans at +1202. Davante Adams at +1602, T.Y. Hilton at 1652, Antonio Brown at +1704, and Tyreek Hill at +2146
So, if you are able to snag any of these guys, you probably won’t be in horrible shape when it comes to your week by week receiving points.
Most Passing TDs
Patrick Mahomes is expected to follow up his record-breaking season with another showstopper. He’s +350 to drop the most TDs on the season. Andrew Luck is back and he’s just +597 to put up the most 6-point plays. Aaron Rodgers is worth a look at +850. Matty Ice has a ton of value at +1000 and is worth a serious look for our fantasy rosters. Behind Ryan is Baker Mayfield at +1350, and Carson Wentz at +1500. Tom Brady and Drew Brees are still in the mix as well at +1701 and +1751 respectively. Philip Rivers and Deshaun Watson round out the top-ten at +2001. Big Ben sits just out of the top-ten, and surprisingly, the experts in Vegas think Jameis Winston is going to have a big season with TD odds of +2501.
Most Passing Yards
Patrick Mahomes has short, short odds on the most regular-season passing yards. At just +300 (three to one) he should not be ignored in the first round – despite what some pundits might say about a ‘sophomore slump’. Matt Ryan is second on the list to drop mad yardage in 2019 with odds of +535, and Andrew Luck rounds ou the top-three at +652. Aaron Rodgers is +804, and despite being outside the top-ten in TDs, Big Ben is sitting at 5th most likely to accrue the most yards through the air. Next, we have Drew Brees, Baker Mayfield, Philip Rivers, with Jarod Goff and Carson Wentz tied for 10th.
Barring injuries, any of the players listed should be fantasy roster go-tos for passing and receiving in 2019. Be sure to check the player props regularly for your DFS campaigns because it will immensely in setting up your weekly roster.
