Felix Yevtushenkov and the Social Idea contest

Date:

Felix Yevtushenkov: “Social Idea is dozens of socially significant projects.”

Felix Yevtushenkov is engaged in charitable activities that help to solve social problems using modern technologies.

Innovative and environmentally friendly management systems, sorting and recycling programs, a cancer diagnostics platform, a database of donors, and a psychological assistance service are just a tiny part of the startups that received support through an international competition for social projects based on IT.

Felix Yevtushenkov: investments in socially significant projects

Yevtushenkov Felix Vladimirovich is one of the Russian investors investing heavily in the development of socially significant technologies. His interest in creating innovative solutions that benefit society allows him to implement the cutting-edge ideas of domestic developers. For example, Felix Yevtushenkov supports the Social Idea project to find technological solutions to social problems.

Applications are accepted from residents of Russia and neighboring countries over 18 years old. They can present a developed product or an idea for a future project. Startups, social entrepreneurs, students and teachers, employees of research institutes, and other participants in the initiative claim more than one and a half million rubles for implementing their projects.

This year, applications were accepted in two categories: “Ecology” and “Inclusion”. According to the results of the competition, the jury determined several winners in each direction. This is a construction app for children with motor disabilities, a digital inclusive platform project for tourists, an eco-app that demonstrates the impact of the user’s eating habits on our planet and changing them to more environmentally friendly, and other startups. All winners received cash certificates and expert evaluations from top managers of large companies.

Felix Yevtushenkov: technologies for a better future

Many of the projects implemented thanks to the Social Idea competition are in the interests of the Foundation for Charitable Giving, founded in 2004. Mr. Yevtushenkov takes an active part in the organization and heads its Board of Trustees.

The contest participants develop projects to help people in various life situations. Thus, the IT platform of the blood donor community Donorsearch.org includes a database of volunteers, publishes information on cases of urgent donor search, and allows to find nearby centers. There are helpful thematic articles, bonuses, and announcements of events available for users. Unfortunately, experts report a decrease in the number of young people who want to donate blood in Russia. Therefore, the platform creators from Tatarstan are working to improve services for all participants in donor processes. Their goal is to optimize and increase the effectiveness of involvement in regular gratuitous donorship.

A team of graduates of the psychology faculty of Lomonosov Moscow State University has created the online psychological assistance service Youtalk. It allows one to select a specialist using a questionnaire and conduct sessions via video link or correspondence in a messenger.

The SOL translation platform for Russian sign language enables people with hearing impairment to receive 24/7 support using terminals, mobile devices, or web services of companies using this program. According to the developers, there are more than 500,000 deaf and 5 million hard-of-hearing people in Russia and the CIS countries who need such services.

Also among the developments that found support at the IT competition, supported by Felix Yevtushenkov, were:

  • An indoor climate device that allows you to assess the microclimate by nine factors;
  • System of rapid morphological diagnostics of oncological diseases;
  • Smart electronic waste sorting bins;
  • Sound orientation system for blind people and other innovative solutions.

Socially oriented business today is no longer rare. There are more and more such startups, but they still need the help of mentors and specialists, financial, analytical, and other resources to advance. One of the engines of such projects is technological competitions held by large companies. Of course, the state contributes to the development of social entrepreneurship. Still, it is good when activists can find support from business giants and such interested investors as Felix Yevtushenkov.
