We spend far too much money on electricity for lights in the rooms in our properties and this is money that could be saved over the course of any year. This is why you need to do whatever you can to come up with ideas to get all of that natural light inside where it belongs.
You can do things like install double sliding doors that are made from metal and glass rather than a traditional door that you can’t see through and light cannot pass through as well. This is just one way to help bring more light into your property and the following are some others.
- Add more windows – This is applicable to both business and residential properties and if there is a room that doesn’t have any windows at all, it makes sense to put one in to allow sunlight to enter into that particular room. You also get to enjoy a better view because you didn’t have any before this point. This is a very cost-effective way to update your property and also add value to it.
- Schedule regular window cleaning – You wouldn’t believe the amount of dirt and dust that accumulates up on your windows and glass doors around your property. This stops natural light from piercing through into the inside of the rooms and so scheduling a regular window cleaner to come around your property and give them a good wash and polish is just what they need right now.
- Replace those heavy curtains – You can still have your privacy by putting up curtains that allow the light to pass through and this is a very cost-effective and cheap way to bring more natural light into your property. If you don’t fancy putting up curtains then some blinds would be good as well because you can open and close them depending on your visual needs.
- Install some skylights – These are a fantastic addition to any property and especially for your home. The kids will be very happy with one of these because not only does it allow light to come into the bedroom but it also allows your kids to gaze up at the sky before they fall asleep at night. It makes sense to install these in areas such as hallways, the living room, and of course bedrooms.
Start looking at the outside of your property as well because maybe there are natural things like trees and shrubbery that are stopping natural light from getting into the property. Get these cut back or pruned so that you can still enjoy the shade that they provide but you get to enjoy the light as well.
